September 7-16, 2024 Trip Report
Bilikiki has just come back from a 10 day medical mission with the Loloma Foundation. Onboard we had 12 US doctors lead by Bob Sykes, 3 local doctors and 2 women's health educators.
We visited several villages around the Russell Islands and the Florida Islands and the medical care that was provided during those days was just amazing and outstanding. Within the doctors group we had paediatricians, general doctors and dentists. Our dive deck became a dental clinic! The doctors saw a total of 1102 patients, the women's health educators conducted informative meetings in the communities and gave away a total of 678 period kits sponsored by Days For Girls. The dentists saw a total of 77 people who needed dental aid, something that is not readily available in most of the Solomons.
We are also very grateful that the doctors and dentists could check our crew members! Their health is a priority for us! So thank you so much for all of your hard work and passion. Being part of these missions is truly a privilege, and on top of being fun, it feels rewarding to be able to give back to the communities that are so welcoming to us during our diving trips.
A big thank you too to our amazing crew who helped out (big time) at the dental onboard clinic and on the different villages we visited. Their effort and hard work really helped us to make a difference.
Best wishes
Pato and Fernando
