The Bilikiki is back from her first trip of the season (March 11-21) with an absolutely great bunch of divers! It was so lovely to meet everyone and dive with you, I hope we all get to meet and dive together again someday.
Although we had some grey skies, the sun did shine a lot too and no matter the weather we had some fabulous dives and saw some amazing marine life. Some of the highlights for me were the dives at Tanavula which had very little current, amazing soft and hard corals, stunning visibility and just so many fish I couldn’t concentrate. I could have swam around there all day! Other highlights were the cuttlefish laying eggs at Mirror Pond which was magnificent, all the octopus we saw at various sites (some of us even got to see them mating), the dive on the Aquarium Seamount with all the sharks was highly exciting and Passage Rock was stunning. I wish I saw the giant grouper like some divers did! Also how can I forget the many many dives at White Beach. The halameda ghost pipefish was a highlight there for me.
Besides the diving it was fantastic to go ashore and be welcomed into a village and enjoy the unique singing, dancing and panpipe music. The canoe markets around the boat were also very special.
A big thank you to Tina, Oli and all of the crew of the Bilikiki who really looked after us during the trip. It was as amazing as ever and I look forward to being back soon!
Cheers,
Kellie
