April 3-13, 2024 Trip
Ten days have passed and Bilikiki has returned to Honiara from another fabulous trip around the Solomons. This time, our guests came from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Hungary. It was a pleasure to see some familiar faces among the group of enthusiastic divers coming back for another trip.
And once again, the weather was on our side, which allowed us to dive some sites that we don't regularly visit. Underwater, we had some beautiful encounters with the big and the small marine life alike, much to the delight of the photographers, who joined us on this trip. Whether it was the curious cuttlefish or colourful nudibranchs, tiny coral hermit crabs, bumblebee shrimps, or the schooling barracudas, rainbow runners and jacks - everyone loved what came in front of their mask, framed by gorgeous reefs in fabulous visibility. While diving in Kicha, the rumbling of the underwater volcano Kavachi provided a fitting soundtrack to the amazing reef and the schools of fish in the blue. The flashlightfish were also a definite highlight of this trip, they left everyone in awe when they showed up in big numbers during the night dive at Mbulo! What a spectacle to witness this incredible display of nature! Absolutely stunning!
The floating canoe markets for fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the trip were much loved by our guests, as were the carving markets in Marovo Lagoon, where many souvenirs were purchased to remember this wonderful trip. Another highlight for our guests was our village visit to Karumolun, where we were entertained by the unique sound of the amazing panpipe music, expertly played with flip-flops by the young men of the village, while the rest of the villagers performed their traditional dances and songs - what a treat! Everyone had a huge smile on their faces! It was a beautiful trip all around!
We would like to thank all of our guests for coming to visit and dive with us once again - it was a pleasure and hopefully we will see you again very soon - I know some of you are coming back next year already! Congratulations to Josh for passing his Advanced Open Water Course too!
And last, but not least, a huge tagio tumas to our incredible crew for their continuous hard work!! Thank you!
Until the next time - Happy bubbles,
Tina & Oli
