April 14-25, 2024 Trip
Our last 11 day trip around the Solomons has come to an end and we said goodbye to our group of 16 divers from the USA, Canada, and France. It was again a huge pleasure to see so many familiar faces from previous trips, but also new friends were made along the way too.
Throughout these last 11 days we were blessed by absolutely amazing weather conditions with bright sunny days, flat calm seas and beautiful visibility on most of the sites we visited. And once again, the dive sites had something to offer for everyone - beautiful encounters with large schools of big eye jacks and barracudas and fusiliers raining down on us in huge numbers. There was the smaller reef inhabitants too, like octopuses, batfish, archer fish, diamond fish, pipefish and nudibranchs, they kept our divers fascinated during our dives.
Diving to the rumbling soundtrack of the undersea volcano Kavachi near Kicha was a first for many and a fitting backdrop to a couple of awesome dives, mostly done in the middle of a huge school of jacks with some grey reef sharks and even a silvertip shark - wow! Definitely a highlight on this trip. The incredible weather everywhere enabled stunning dives in the sun-flooded Mbulo Caves, and also in Mirror Pond and in Leru Cut in the Russells, where the light beams coming down where an amazing sight to see. Simply magical!
Our divers equally enjoyed our visits to the wood carvers in Marovo, as well as the beautiful performance of the traditional singing and dancing by the villagers of Karumolun, accompanied by their incredible panpipe music.
In the Florida Islands, we spotted some mantas from the surface in the channel outside of Maravagi, so we tried our luck in the ripping current of Devil's Highway to see them underwater - what a ride!! Our divers loved the experience of this super fast drift, even though only one manta briefly showed up, while we were hooked to edge of the reef, surrounded by fusiliers and some dogtooth tunas - absolutely brilliant!
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our guests for yet another memorable trip. We hope to see you all again soon for another adventure here in the beautiful Solomon Islands.
We could not do this without the professional help of all our crew members, who worked tirelessly once again to make it all happen - tagio tumas!!
Until the next time,
Best fishes
