Trip Report - July 24-August 3, 2024
Bilikiki has returned to Honiara after another stunning trip around the Solomon Islands with 16 divers from the USA and a family from Switzerland. Patrick and Eva celebrated their honeymoon on the Bilikiki twenty years ago and now returned with their children to revisit the sites! What a blast for everyone!
We were blessed with mostly beautiful weather conditions and amazing encounters under water. We were lucky to see a huge variety of sea life, from the big to the tiniest, all in the beautiful coral reefs. We saw different species of shark, schooling jacks and barracudas, rainbow runners, oceanic triggers and bumphead parrotfish, but also quite a few pygmy seahorses, cockatoo waspfish, dwarf cuttlefish, a beautiful ribbon eel and stunning nudibranchs and flatworms. There was something for everyone on every dive! A certain highlight, however, were the schooling mobula rays on two different dives in the Floridas, which certainly kept the discussions back onboard going! What a sight to see - pure elegance in perfect harmony! Mbulo once again fascinated our divers with its outstanding coral reefs and caves, especially with the bright sunlight streaming in. The carving markets and our village visit rounded our trip off and many souvenirs were purchased.
For Oli and myself, this was our last trip of this year's first half of the season. We were joined by Pato and Fernando, who will now continue for the second half of the year - we wish you all the best, smooth sailing and great encounters underwater!
Our heartfelt thanks go to all of our guests who came to dive with us this year and of course to our hard working Bilikiki crew, who make every trip a memorable one - you guys are simply amazing!
Thank you all and see you next year,
Happy bubbles
Tina and Oli
